U-BOAT CHIMERA'S NEW "GEOMETRY" IN WATCH & WONDER
On the occasion of SIHH 2024, Italo Fontana presents three new Chimera watches, including a chronograph and a chronograph, with a special stripe pattern on the dial.
Parallel lines outline and shape the concept of time. They expand it, smooth it, as if they wanted to stretch it to infinity. New geometries, new three-dimensionality, new spaces and grooves stimulate vision, allowing the observer to experience and watch the passage of hours, minutes and seconds in a different perspective.
The Chimera watch, always one of the most distinctive designs of the Luca watchmaker, with its bold and unique character, now acquires a new geometry and three-dimensionality through the new micro-textured dial.

The wavy metal surface composed of regular stripes runs horizontally across the entire two-layer dial, presenting three different shades of black, green and blue, which is dazzling.
The polished tungsten steel bezel, one of the hardest metals in the world, makes the watch completely impervious to scratches, and the three new dials (chronograph and time-only) feature laser-cut numerals, hour markers and counters in both versions.
The perforations on the upper layer allow you to see the lower surface made of smoked sapphire, amplifying the three-dimensionality of the striations. With every movement of the wrist, the entire dial creates a unique light reflection and diffuse glow.
Anti-reflective treated sapphire optical glass and painted and brushed metal laser-cut spheres underneath; the chronograph version features two date display slots, three tone-on-tone counters with three different nuances and an additional 24-hour counter; the latter, it
defines the time-only version.
The case, faithful to the iconic Chimera watch that debuted at Baselworld 2009, is 46 mm in diameter and made of AISI 316 L steel, with the bezel and caseback fastened together by five special external tensioning screws with a personalized key, ensuring water resistance up to 100 meters.
A window with smoked mineral glass on the side of the case and a large window on the caseback reveal the movements, a Sellita SW500 in the chronograph version and an ETA 2824 Top Soignč in the single-time version, both custom-made to U-BOAT specifications, with brass and tungsten rotors, with screw bridges treated with pearl and rhodium.
Immediately to the left of the case is the iconic crown cover, whose safety device secures it to the middle case, while the pushers of this design are highly recognizable and characteristic, and the inevitable patented pushers make it easy to extract the crown.
The six watches are paired with a pin-buckle strap, handmade in Tuscany with naturally aged leather and stitched with waxed cotton thread, in brown for the version with green and black dials. The other two versions, black and blue.
